Ministry Descriptions

ALTAR SERVER:  Assists the priest at liturgical celebrations. Training is provided for new servers. Open to youth 4th grade and up, scheduled on a rotating basis.  

ADULT ALTAR SERVER:  Assists the pastor during funerals or weekday Masses as needed.

LECTOR/COMMENTATOR:  Proclaim the Word of God and lead the assembly in prayer at liturgical celebrations. Training is provided for new lectors.  Scheduled on a rotating basis. 

USHER:  For men and women who serve as ministers of hospitality at liturgical celebrations, greeting people, assisting with seating parishioners, receiving offerings, etc. Serves at Mass as scheduled on a rotating basis.  

WEEKEND EXTRAORDINARY MINISTER OF HOLY COMMUNION:  Serves the community by distributing Holy Communion at weekend Masses.  Minister must be Confirmed, 17 years of age, and able to participate fully in the Sacramental life of the Church.  Involves serving at weekend liturgies scheduled on a rotating basis.  

HOME BOUND EUCHARISTIC MINISTER:  Brings Holy Communion to the homebound of our community weekly. 

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS:  A national, Catholic, fraternal organization dedicated to promoting the ideas of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. They strive to give a public witness of faith through their service to the needy, sick, youth, elderly and one another. Commitment:  Monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of the month. Men 18 years or older are welcome. 

CHRISTIAN MOTHERS:  Under the special patronage of Mary, the Mother of Sorrows, Christian Mothers are encouraged joyously to undertake the important task of training and sanctifying the young souls entrusted to their care. They are instructed with ways to edify one another by word and deed, to support one another by fervent prayer and in this way become the mainstay of the spiritual life within their own family, and a fruitful source of blessing to the community in which they live. 

ARISE TOGETHER IN CHRIST:  ARISE Together in Christ is a RENEW parish-wide program inviting people to new ways of understanding their faith and themselves.  ARISE is a small group faith sharing process, which will take place during Fall 2018 and will alternate during Fall and Lent seasons for 3 years. Each session is designed to open all participants to the rich message that is proclaimed and celebrated on each of the Sundays of Lent and Passion Sunday.   

CHRISTIAN SERVICE COMMITTEE: This group will work to bring the corporal and spiritual works of mercy to life through good works and outreach throughout the parish community.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION SUBSTITUTE TEACHER:  Teaches students about Jesus Christ, the Catholic faith, and the meaning of Christian discipleship.
